BECOMING A STEERING COMMITTEE MEMBER
About the Seacoast Sapphos’ General Meeting
As many of you know, Seacoast Sapphos holds its annual BBQ in June of every year. This gathering is also known as our General Meeting in which we set aside about 15 minutes to hold this membership meeting. The rest of time we are too busy having fun playing washer toss; volleyball; or tossing water balloons and engaging in social conversations with our friends.
SS is always looking new steering committee members to join our already dedicated group to assist in managing and planning for the group in accordance with SS By-Laws. At this time, we have an opening for two (2) members. It will take time and effort on your behalf to be part of this exciting group because of the many activities SS provides to its membership/friends in a given year.
If you are interested in becoming a steering committee member or joining one of our committees, please contact Deborah at seacoastsapphos@yahoo.com. Your name will be submitted to our nominating committee and announced at the General Meeting for selection/voting.

Requirements:
a.) The primary decision making body of SEACOAST SAPPHOS will be the Steering Committee. All SEACOAST SAPPHOS business shall be planned, managed and conducted by the Steering Committee with the exception of election of the Officers and Steering Committee and amendments to the Bylaws.
b.) The Steering Committee including the officers shall consist of at least seven (7) members.
c.) The Steering Committee will conduct the business of SEACOAST SAPPHOS and report to the membership annually or as necessary.
d.) Members of the Steering Committee shall be elected by the membership at annual elections to fill vacant slots. The President shall be elected from the Steering Committee members by a majority vote.
e.) A quorum of the Steering Committee is required to make group operating decisions, and will be comprised of half of the membership of the Steering Committee, plus one.
Nominations for the annual Steering Committee elections shall be solicited for all available Steering Committee positions beginning sixty (60) days in advance of the election. The nominees will be announced in the regular meeting prior to the Annual Elections.
The nominating committee composed of two (2) members of the Steering Committee and one (1) members-at-large (either volunteers or selected) will coordinate elections. The responsibilities of the nominating committee will be to solicit nominees and nominations and to organize and conduct the election. The nominating committee will be selected ninety (90) days prior to every election.
